Kevin was the publisher and editor of the Gold Coast Gazette a newspaper he founded along with his mother in 1991. He produced the newspaper for 25 years until selling the publication in 2016 to Richner Publications.

“After 25 years to date in the field of Journalism I can say, with strong conviction, it has been an amazing ride. I love the field, the challenges, the trials, and tribulations and I am excited about where it is headed,” said Horton.

Kevin attended New York Institute of Technology where he studied Communication Arts, and graduated from the program with high honors. Upon graduation, he started the Gold Coast Gazette along with his mother. This weekly publication went on to receive a number of awards and was considered the number one source for reliable, fair, and balanced news for five communities on the North Shore of Long Island.

Through the Gazette, Kevin worked with nearly a hundred interns over the years, from local high schools and colleges.

He is a member of the New York Press Association and the Long Island Press Association.

Children’s Book Author

Cee Jay and Bugsy

Kevin's first book, a children’s book titled, Cee Jay and Bugsy, is a car enthusiast’s dream.

In Cee Jay and Bugsy, we learn that despite the disbelief of his fellow cars in the yard and the looming presence of “The Crusher,” Cee Jay stays true to his dream that someday he will be made into a collectible.

Not just a children’s book, Cee Jay and Bugsy teaches classic car history. After reading about Cee Jay and Bugsy’s adventure, adults and children together will enjoy the glossary of vehicles listing the seven true life vehicles the characters are based on. Cee Jay and Bugsy is available at Barnes and Noble and through Amazon.

Dream Writer

Kevin’s second children’s book, Dream Writer, was published in October of 2022. This fantasy explores, in colorful details, the concept of Lucid Dreaming which is a subconscious technique of controlling and interacting within dreams. Lucid Dreaming, also called, “dream yoga” by the Tibetan Buddhists, is a way to explore and create your dreams, making sleep interesting, less stressful and more restful. Dream Writer is available at Barnes and Noble and through Amazon.

Since publishing his book Kevin developed his own publishing house in 2018 called, Tender Fire Books.
